SSI’’s Continuing Diver Education Program
SSI's Continuing Education Program has the highest rating requirements in the industry. These are not courses per se; rather, they are flexible requirements that can be met in a variety of ways allowing you to personalize your continuing education and training pathway.
• Specialty Diver: Specialty Diver Certification is SSI’s intermediate diver rating; it exceeds
the dive industry standard for advanced open water divers! Specialty Diver Certification includes
completing two (2) Specialty Courses and a minimum of 12 logged dives.
• Advanced Open Water Diver: SSI's Advanced Open Water Diver rating stands alone in
the dive industry requiring the highest combination of diving knowledge and experience.
Advanced Open Water Certification includes completing four (4) Specialty Courses and a
minimum of 24 logged dives.
• Master Diver: SSI's Master Diver rating is one of the most elite ratings in diving today.
Divers that have completed this level have combined the knowledge, skills and experience to
truly call themselves Master Divers. Master Diver Certification includes completing
four (4) Specialty Courses. Stress and Rescue Specialty Course, and a minimum of
50 logged dives.
• Dive Control Specialist (Dive Con): Dive Control Specialist is SSI’s first
professional level course which allows one to be both a dive master and an assistant instructor.
Dive Cons can lead dives, assist instructors with dive classes, and teach scuba skills
update/refresher courses, selected specialty courses, first aid/CPR programs,
and scuba rangers.
